Music is Life

I was fortunate enough to attend the 2019 BeachLife Festival, held in Redondo Beach California, this past May. I had heard about the festival on the radio, but being such a busy person did not seriously consider going until I was asked by a college girlfriend to attend. Even then I was hesitant to go due to the fact that my personal life was in shambles at that moment!! Nonetheless, I went online to view the lineup, and when I saw that Jason Mraz was performing on the second day I decided at that very moment to go! We purchased tickets that week, and before we knew it May had arrived. We also doubled from 2 attendees to 4, all of us being friends from college some 25+ years ago.

The festival was being held close to home, so I opted to drive. When we arrived the security line was long, but I was happy to hear Berlin playing on the main stage as we waited to enter! We danced, we talked, and surprisingly the line quickly moved!

Walking into the festival I was pleasantly surprised at how they had transformed the Seaside Lagoon into an amazing concert venue- there were three stages, a few bars, lounging space, and food areas were set up. The sun was shining and it was not crowded that first hour. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere, the music, and being with my friends. Having been through such a rough period recently taking time to enjoy life with good friends was the best medicine I could ever have.

We saw a lot of amazing artists perform; I am a music fan so the festival setting was a dream come true for me!! That day I was blessed to see many great artists including Berlin, Sugar Ray, Everclear, the Violent Femmes, Brian Wilson, and Jason Mraz. Yes, for me the highlight of the event was watching Jason Mraz perform live for the first time as the sun set on the beach. Wow, he was amazing!!!!! I loved his vibe. I loved his message. I loved his band. I loved his music. It really spoke to me, and at times brought tears to my eyes relating it to my relationships with my husband and son in particular. I can’t wait to see him perform again!!

I do so appreciate the special relationships that I have developed over the years with my close college girlfriends. We all have faced many challenges that life has thrown at us, and I do so love these girls, and the support that we provide to each other – no matter what.

That Beachlife Festival weekend was an amazing experience to have with such special people, and I must say ‘music is indeed life!!’
